I was also the instructor for these students, so I already had relationships and instincts going in, which meant I couldn’t just take the tool’s output at face value. After completing reflexive thematic analysis of open-ended survey responses from 29 PhD students and their own editor reflections, Dr. Pretorius and Dr. Cahusac de Caux trialled Evidano for a different perspective on the key ideas in those reflections — and reported the overlap with their constructed themes as evidence for the trustworthiness of their coding strategy.

I then dissected and interpreted the data manually, which enhances the validity of the results.”
